Newsletter club EnR et ville durable - octobre 2026

The October edition of the Renewable Energies and Sustainable Cities Club (East Africa and Indian Ocean) covers Kenya’s support for the Comoros’ Karthala geothermal project, Uganda’s National Energy Compact targeting 85% electricity access by 2030, and Burundi’s 25-year public-private partnership with Weza Power, the first nationwide private electricity distribution concession in Africa in over 20 years. In sustainable cities, it reports the launch of CMA CGM’s dedicated block train between Mombasa and Nairobi and the USD 160M Thamani Asili programme to fund conservation in Kenya over ten years.

It also features a fresh round of tenders and upcoming events, including Powerelec Kenya, the 16th Africa PPP Summit in Nairobi, Ambition Africa 2026, KenGen’s Sustainable Energy Conference at Olkaria, the conference “Towards Sustainable and Resilient Cities” organised by the Embassy of France on 2 December, and the Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa in January 2027.

In this new newsletter, you will enjoy reading a presentation of Tyllium, a French project developer and EPC general contractor, which delivered an integrated forest fire management system for the Kenya Forest Service, financed by a French Treasury loan, covering the Mau, the Aberdares and Mount Kenya across 14 counties.

We warmly thank this company for its participation. I take this opportunity to remind all interested members that they are welcome to showcase their activities in this new section of the newsletter.
